About Our Lunch Program
The United States Department of Agriculture’s 1993 School Nutrition Dietary Assessment studies show that the eating patterns of children and youth parallel the eating patterns of the nation. Generally, children are consuming too much fat, saturated fat, sodium and too few complex carbohydrates.
Since school meals provide a significant contribution to a child’s diet, our School Food Service Department has planned menus, which includes low fat foods, additional servings of fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grain products. Our goal is to menu and serve school lunches which contributes no more than 30% of calories from fat and 10% or less calories from saturated fat. In addition our planned menus provide the nutrient standards for calories, protein, calcium, iron and vitamins A & C, for your child’s specific age group.
